Bill Schuilenberg, CT, RPC, MPCC-S, CSAT

For 22 years, Bill was a successful cabinetmaker in Alberta, and in those years, he had the satisfaction of working on many different and unique projects, but his favourite thing to do was build kitchens. "When I get to the job site to install the kitchen, the house is just a box. When I leave, it's a home."

After developing a genetic health condition determined to be chronic and incurable, he took the opportunity to return to school at 41. With credentials in hand, he opened a private counselling practice with his wife, Susannah-Joy, in Kelowna, BC. In 2008 he followed Susannah-Joy to Kuwait where they practiced for seven years. While overseas, Bill added significantly to the breadth and depth of his counselling experience in a diverse and multi-cultural psychology center. In 2015, after returning to Canada,  he co-founded William & Associates Counselling Services in partnership with Susannah-Joy.  Bill actively pursues education in order to keep his skills current, and he completed his certification as a Sexual Addictions Therapist in July of 2019.

Bill works with men and women by offering support in addressing stressful life circumstances, intimacy disorders, sexual addictions and Bill also helps couples navigate their relationship challenges. Focusing on a compassionate, non-judgmental process, he helps to clarify patterns of thinking and behaviour which in turn, creates the opportunity for change.

Fun fact: Bill is an avid Formula One fan, and has his own racing setup in the Mancave including life size screen and custom built racing seat. He's raced every F1 circuit multiple times and uses this pastime as self-care.

Susannah-Joy Schuilenberg, CT, RPC

Susannah-Joy specializes in therapy for trauma, including Acute Stress Disorder, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Complex Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, and Developmental Trauma. She has extensive experience locally and globally working with First Responders, adult survivors of childhood abuse (physical, sexual, emotional, & psychological) victims of violent crime, intimate partner violence,  refugees, military (active duty & retired), victims of war, and human rights abuses. She also has years of experience working with individuals and families dealing with medical trauma, chronic health conditions, and catastrophic diagnoses.

Susannah-Joy holds safe and confidential space for people wounded by life to process and resolve painful experiences which have impacted quality of life. Focusing on the specific needs of each individual client or couple, she brings years of experience to the therapy room, a huge toolbox of techniques and interventions, and unshakeable compassion throughout the process.

Her interest in trauma blossomed early, in the context of academics. Susannah-Joy came to recognize that many individuals are traumatized, through no fault of their own, in the effort to get an education. This experience led her to pursue an understanding of trauma in all its forms and she continually adds  to her knowledge and experience as a specialist in this area of clinical practice.

Fun fact: Susannah-Joy thinks one of the best things in the world is spying on fishes. So far, she's been able to snorkel while visiting Egypt, St. Kitts & Nevis, the Maldives, and Belize.

Carol J. Loney, CT, MA, RPC, MPCC-S, CCTP-II, ACS

A gifted psychotherapist and educator, Carol brings an enthusiasm and wisdom to her work that is grounded in her professional and therapeutic skills, anchored by her 35 years of experience uplifting lives in empowering ways. Supporting and encouraging individuals to 'find their voices' as they move towards creating, nurturing, and sustaining a healthy perspective of life, Carol is compassionate, wise, and creative in the process.

Her history is unusual, and as a result, Carol brings an eclectic and extensive experience to the therapy relationship. The daughter of a Russian immigrant, she lived through poverty, hardship, and tragedy in the context of a family shaped by those experiences. That reality resulted in an unshakable compassion and empathy for those impacted by life events, and had the further impact of instilling a passionate love of education. Returning to school in her 50's (having left school in grade 10 to help on the family farm), she earned a graduate degree in counselling, collecting the Graduate Award for Proficiency & Excellence in Counselling from the Faculty of the program.

By virtue of her extensive experience in a variety of professional contexts, William & Associates asked Carol to take on the role of Internship Coordinator and Senior Clinical Supervisor. In this role, she coordinates and oversees the interns in providing mental health counselling in the Affordable Counselling and Low Fee Therapy programs. In addition, she supervises community professionals in person and online, encouraging and supporting professional skills development, practice governance, and clinician mental health.

Fun fact: Carol is a small-project quilter, and collects fabrics and patterns "just in case." She's pretty sure she could make a unique quilt block every day for one year without repeating.

Ladies! Are you hitting a wall someplace in your life? Perhaps you are second-guessing your skills or abilities, your relationships or career, your
parenting or something else that is resulting in shaky confidence. Does your life lack clarity or purpose? You may be in transition – a new city – an empty nest – a new retiree! Are you facing loss, conflict or resentment? Have you lost your voice – can’t see your path ahead? Do you Feel like your
life/career/faith is unravelling and long for a safe place to explore your questions or doubts?

What we work on and how we collaborate in a session depends on YOU! I have an integrative approach, meaning that I have many tools in my bag to assist in your process. I employ a Blended Counselling/Coaching approach.

My blend of education, life experience and a passion for life-long learning has equipped me with a multitude of resources from which I draw on, and
apply, in a way that is unique to your situation. One of the resources I find effective in Resolving present and future concerns is the application of
Solution Focused Coaching tools.

My love for both people and learning has led me to continuously collect information, articles, books, courses, organizations or individuals who
regularly become excellent resources for my self and others. Through some challenging situations in my own life, I made the transformative choice to seek out a wise counsellor. I learned to listen to my inner wisdom/intuition – to trust my gut. From that experience I knew I wanted to provide other women with an empowering safe space.

After raising two lovely children and supporting my husband in our business, I returned to school to become a Registered Professional Counsellor. I
graduated in 2014 and specialize in personal development for women.

Fun Facts: Stacks of books, friends and family are must haves! I spent my 50th birthday driving a Lamborghini on a racetrack in Vegas. A few years later,
at the invitation of a nephew I jumped out of a plane. Oh, yeah, I love roller coasters, too!

Iris Wagner-Ritzmann, RPC, MPCC

Always passionate about supporting healthy families, Iris Wagner-Ritzmann has supported families for over 20 years through coaching, mediation, and counselling. Iris pursued the expertise needed to provide practical and sustainable solutions for parents and children faced with the challenges of separation and divorce. She has helped many children to express their feelings of grief and loss following separation or divorce, and has consulted with parents on how to best support their child(ren) through this new and painful transition.

Having taught many seminars and group modules, Iris provides parents with practical tools to navigate the various transition stages in the family unit after separation and divorce. Moreover, Iris is devoted to family counselling and helping parents to co-parent thus enhancing the well-being of their children.

Iris earned her Social Work degree in Germany and worked as a counsellor there for 3 years in a child-learning centre and for 9 years at an adolescent treatment program. While working as a counsellor in the adolescent treatment program, she provided  individual and group psychotherapy to culturally diverse adolescents diagnosed with psychiatric disorders, attention disturbances, anxiety, depression and/or substance use. During her time in Germany, Iris conducted therapy sessions using multi-model approaches: cognitive behaviour therapy, solution focused therapy, expressive arts and adherence to individualized treatment plans that she developed in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

Through the Justice Institute of British Columbia, Iris continued her training in conflict resolutions and family mediation, furthering her knowledge on the voice of children, the effects of separation and divorce on adults and children, and strategies in dealing with anger. Today, she is a Registered Professional Counsellor (RPC), a Mediator, and has earned the additional professional credential of Master Practitioner in Clinical Counselling (MPCC).
