About
Carol J. Loney, MA, RPC, MPCC-S, CCTP-II, ACS
A gifted psychotherapist and educator, Carol brings an enthusiasm and wisdom to her work that is grounded in her professional and therapeutic skills, anchored by her 35 years of experience uplifting lives in empowering ways. Supporting and encouraging individuals to 'find their voices' as they move towards creating, nurturing, and sustaining a healthy perspective of life, Carol is compassionate, wise, and creative in the process.
Her history is unusual, and as a result, Carol brings an eclectic and extensive experience to the therapy relationship. The daughter of a Russian immigrant, she lived through poverty, hardship, and tragedy in the context of a family shaped by those experiences. That reality resulted in an unshakable compassion and empathy for those impacted by life events, and had the further impact of instilling a passionate love of education. Returning to school in her 50's (having left school in grade 10 to help on the family farm), she earned a graduate degree in counselling, collecting the Graduate Award for Proficiency & Excellence in Counselling from the Faculty of the program.
By virtue of her extensive experience in a variety of professional contexts, William & Associates asked Carol to take on the role of Internship Coordinator and Senior Clinical Supervisor. In this role, she coordinates and oversees the interns in providing mental health counselling in the Affordable Counselling and Low Fee Therapy programs. In addition, she supervises community professionals in person and online, encouraging and supporting professional skills development, practice governance, and clinician mental health.
Fun fact: Carol is a small-project quilter, and collects fabrics and patterns "just in case." She's pretty sure she could make a unique quilt block every day for one year without repeating.
