STOP - 10 Week Fully Funded Program

This program is designed to help you:

  • learn to manage your emotions,

  • learn non-violent ways to communicate,

  • foster more healthy relationships and

  • live a life you love - with the ones you love.

STOP is fully funded by the government through the John Howard Society of the Okanagan, and is facilitated by Bill Schuilenberg, RPC, MPCC-S, CSAT and Susannah-Joy Schuilenberg, Trauma Recovery Coach. They have run this program several times with great success and are excited to be able to offer it again those in the community who need it.

How it Works - What to Expect

STOP is essentially an anger management and emotional skills program run over 10 weeks with material that has been developed over several years from the experiences and education of multiple counsellors and mental health professionals.

This program is designed specifically for those who find it difficult to manage their emotions, especially anger, grief and discouragement and instead turn to violence as a release. Men and women are both guilty of this issue, even though men get a bad rap as being more violent.

Throughout the 10 weeks this program runs, you will:

  • discover why you feel they way you do in certain situations

  • learn the difference between feelings and emotions

  • learn practical tools and strategies to make different choices

  • create and maintain healthy relationships

Anyone can refer themselves to the program. There are two programs available.

  • Men's program - October 9, 2024 - December 11, 2024

  • Women's program - January 15, 2025 - March 19, 2025

  • Weekly on Wednesday Evenings, 6pm - 8pm, Downtown Kelowna at our office
